A former nursing sister lodged her complaint with the Ombudsman Commission alleging non-payment of her outstanding service and shift loading allowances. The former sister worked at the Daru General Hospital from 2010 to 2017 and was attached to the Tuberculosis Directly Observed Treatment, Short-courses Program in the South Fly District of Western Province.
The former nursing sister claimed that she was not paid her shift loading allowances from January 2011 to August 2017 as entitled under the PNG Nursing Association Memorandum of Agreement (MoU). She made numerous follow-up attempts with the Western Provincial Health Authority however to no avail.
After the Commission intervened in November of 2022, the Western Provincial Health Authority responded and paid a sum of K30,239.66 to the nursing sister for the outstanding nursing service and shift loading allowances.
