OC refutes Tuesday’s front page on Post Courier

The Ombudsman Commission refutes Tuesday’s front page Post Courier article on APEC which states that ‘the only audit that was conducted into the 2018 APEC was by the Ombudsman Commission’.

The Commission would like to clarify that it does not audit government accounts and therefore, denies any audit into 2018 APEC.

The Commission’s involvement with APEC is to do with enforcing its functions imposed on it by Section 218(c) and (d) of the Constitution for purpose of maintaining check and balance; and enforcing Section 27(4) of the Constitution for the purpose of maintaining the status core of the public assets including those APEC assets.

The Ombudsman Commission does not audit financial affairs of any Governmental Body including APEC Authority as reported in the article.
