Widow Receives Late Husband’s Pension after Daughter Lodge’s Complaint with the Commission

The Ombudsman Commission received a complaint from a concerned daughter regarding alleged non-payment of her late father’s pension by the Correctional Services.

The late Correctional Services officer passed away in December 2020 and his family continued to receive pension until May 2021 when Correctional Services suddenly ceased payments for five months.

Enquirers were made with the Correctional Services Headquarters, and the Commission assisted the widow (complainant’s mother) in completing the Pension Data Form for retired Commissioned and Correctional Services Officers and submitting it to the Correctional Services.

In October of 2021, the Correctional Services commenced payment of pensions to the widow’s bank account. The complainant provided a copy of the widow’s bank statement confirming the payment and was grateful to the Commission for assisting her mother.
