Commission’s Intervention Saw The Deceased Estate Paid To Beneficiaries

A primary school teacher from a remote district in the Momase Region lodged a complaint with the Ombudsman Commission alleging delays in the payment of the estate of his late father. He claimed that although he and other family members had been identified as beneficiaries, the estate funds had not been released.

The Commission registered the complaint. However, as the matter involved an entity outside the Commission’s investigative jurisdiction, the Commission took administrative steps to address the issue. Commission officers met with the office responsible for processing the deceased estate, where it was confirmed that the complainant and all identified beneficiaries had completed the required documentation and that their files had been forwarded for final processing.

On 23 August 2024, the Commission contacted the complainant to verify the status of the matter. The complainant confirmed that the deceased estate, totalling K60,000.00, had been paid out to all beneficiaries in accordance with the approved distribution percentages. He further confirmed receiving K12,000.00, representing 20% of the total entitlement.

Through its timely intervention and follow-up, the Ombudsman Commission ensured that the beneficiaries of the deceased estate received their rightful entitlements without further delay.
