The Ombudsman Commission of Papua New Guinea is an independent constitutional institution established by Section 217 of the Constitution to promote good governance and quality leadership in Papua New Guinea.
The functions of the Commission are provided under Section 219 of the Constitution, and these functions are further expanded and enabled by two (2) important Organic Laws, and these being the Organic Law on the Ombudsman Commission (OLOC) and Organic Law on the Duties and Responsibilities of Leadership (OLDRL).
The OLOC deals with the traditional Ombudsman function of ensuring that the Governmental Bodies are responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people, while under the provisions of the OLDRL, the Ombudsman Commission supervises the enforcement of the Leadership Code, where it guides the leaders in the performance of their responsibilities.
The Commission has immediate vacancies for appropriately qualified, experienced and highly motivated people with the personal drive to produce real results. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are of sound reputation and character.
