Commission Ensures Contractor Receives K32,726.41 Owed Since 2012

A contractor from the Momase Region lodged a complaint with the Ombudsman Commission on 11 April 2017 concerning the non-payment of an outstanding amount of K32,726.41. The contractor had entered into an agreement with a local educational institution to supply timber valued at K53,823.00. An initial payment of K21,896.59 was made, after which the contractor supplied the materials used to construct a multi-classroom building and staff housing.

Despite completing the work in 2012, the contractor did not receive the remaining balance. After several unsuccessful attempts to secure payment, he approached the Ombudsman Commission seeking assistance.

The Ombudsman Commission registered the complaint and pursued the matter with the relevant provincial authorities and stakeholders.

In July 2024, the contractor notified the Ombudsman Commission that he had finally received the outstanding payment. He expressed his appreciation for the Commission’s intervention, which enabled the resolution of a long-standing payment issue.
