A complainant has expressed great satisfaction to the Ombudsman Commission for assisting him get a reimbursement for his nomination fee of K1, 000.00.
Mathew Wangi was an intending candidate for the 2017 National General Elections to contest the East Sepik regional seat. However, Mr Wangi’s nomination was rejected when he arrived minutes after nominations have closed at the Electoral Office in Wewak.
Since then, he has been asking the Electoral Office to reimburse his nomination fee. After numerous attempts, he lodged a complaint with the Ombudsman Commission.
The matter was investigated and the Ombudsman Commission liaised with the Electoral Commission for Mr Wangi’s nomination fee to be reimbursed.
The Electoral Commission responded to the Ombudsman Commission with the reimbursement which was later received by the complainant’s son on his behalf.
