A complaint was lodged with the Ombudsman Commission against the Department of National Planning and Monitoring regarding an alleged unreasonable delay in releasing Public Investment Program (PIP) funding of K39 million to the West New Britain Provincial Government. The funds were for sector projects approved in the 2024 National Development Budget.
The Ombudsman Commission registered the complaint and investigated the matter with the Department of National Planning and Monitoring.
As a result of the Ombudsman Commission’s intervention, the Department released a total of K244,700,764.00 in cash development funding to the West New Britain Provincial Government. That payment, dated 12 November 2024, included the outstanding PIP funding of K39 million that was the subject of the complaint.
