Ombudsman Commission’s Intervention Secures Housing Title for Retired Public Servant after over a Decade of Unsuccessful Follow-Up Attempts

A retired public servant has received the title of a State Lease under the Government Agency’s “Sell off Scheme” after offsetting the outstanding fees and land rentals.

After a futile exercise of continuous follow-up with the Government Agency for more than a decade, the retired public servant brought his complaint to the Ombudsman Commission. The retired public servant alleged a prolonged delay in the Conveyance Process of the residential property.

In 2022, the Ombudsman commenced a Full Investigation into the alleged prolonged delay in facilitating the title transfer of property by the Government Agency by using its powers under the Organic Law on the Ombudsman Commission.

Through the intervention of the Commission, the Government Agency finally transferred the ownership of the property to the retired public servant. The title of the property was transferred through the signing of the Contract of Sales and Transfer Instruments and lodged at the relevant Department.

The Commission confirmed with the retired public servant that he had received his copy of the housing Title on 17 October 2024 from the relevant Department.
