K9, 116.47 in Salaries Paid To Community Health Worker in Rural District Health Center

The Ombudsman Commission conducted an investigation into a complaint in relation to non-payment of salaries for a Community Health Worker in a district health centre in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

It was alleged that the salaries for eleven (11) fortnights, from October 2014 to March 2015 were not paid to Community Health Workers. The non-payment was claimed to be due to funds being mistakenly credited to the wrong bank account.

The Commission issued relevant notices under the Organic Law of the Ombudsman Commission to the two Government Departments concerned. Case conferences were also held with the Government departments concerned and the Commission was assured of their efforts to resolve the issue.

In December 2023, the Community Health Worker received an outstanding salary of K9,116.47. The Community Health Worker was grateful for the assistance provided by the Commission.
