Primary School Teacher Admitted, Registered, and Back paid K31, 055.93 As A Result Of Ombudsman Commission Intervention

In November 2024, the Ombudsman Commission received a complaint from a primary school teacher regarding an unreasonable delay by relevant governmental bodies in expediting his admission, full registration, and establishment on the payroll. The teacher had served for three years, from 2022 to 2024, in a funded position.

Upon assessment, the Ombudsman Commission determined the matter to be genuine and vigorously pursued it with the responsible governmental bodies.

In May 2025, the governmental bodies reported to the Ombudsman Commission that the aggrieved teacher had been successfully admitted to the teaching service, fully registered, issued a file number, and placed on the payroll. Furthermore, he was back-paid his outstanding gross salary amounting to K31,055.93. The Commission’s intervention resulted in a favourable outcome for the complainant.
