Secondary School Teacher in Milne Bay Province Not Paid Outstanding Salaries

A secondary school teacher in the Milne Bay Province claimed that her outstanding salaries were not approved and paid by the Teaching Service Commission and the Milne Bay Provincial Education Division. 

The teacher was teaching at the Cameron Secondary School in Alotau however resigned due to an unavailable teaching position. She was re-appointed by the Teaching Service Commission to teach at Santa Maria Secondary School in Watuluma, Good Enough Island, Milne Bay Province and has been a level-4 officer since 2012.

From 2012 to September 2018, the teacher claimed she was not paid the outstanding salaries. She made numerous follow-ups with the responsible authorities however to no avail.

In October 2022, after Commission’s intervention, the Teaching Service Commission and the Milne Bay Provincial Education Division approved and processed the teacher’s outstanding salaries. The teacher received K16, 997.82 for six (6) years in unpaid salaries.
